SmartPort offers better customer service and reliable passenger flow tracking for Viking Line

With the SmartPort system, passengers scan the QR code on their boarding pass when moving from the terminal to the boarding area. At the same time, the information is transferred to Viking Line’s system and is recorded in real-time on the ship’s passenger list.

“This gate system has been extremely beneficial for us as it allows for the efficient handling of large passenger volumes and plays a key role in ensuring that the ships can depart on schedule,” says Peter Forsberg, Viking Line’s Head of Traffic.

New features are developed together

The gate system has proven to be reliable and has helped to optimize the flow of passengers from the terminal to the ferry. Development work continues, and new features such as real-time passenger list updates and handling of exceptional situations are currently being developed in collaboration. This is crucial for improving operational processes and enhancing passenger safety.

Weasel Software has also provided Viking Line with a bilingual support team that serves customers in both Finnish and Swedish. This has significantly streamlined the communication between Finnish and Swedish offices and facilitated collaboration between different stakeholders.
