Weasel Software Oy to deliver the passenger and traffic management system for the Ferry Terminal Turku project
The Port of Turku’s new passenger terminal is taking a major digital leap as a modern passenger and traffic management system is being built for the area. Following a competitive tendering process, the Turku-based company Weasel Software Oy has been selected as the provider and will be responsible for delivering and commissioning the system.
The passenger and traffic management solution includes both the passenger and traffic management system and the related equipment, such as gates, measuring devices, and digital signage. In addition to delivering and installing the system, Weasel Software Oy will also provide maintenance and support services after commissioning. The overall solution supports the management of passenger and vehicle flows in the terminal environment and helps ensure smooth operations in everyday conditions as well as during peak periods.

The aim of the new system is to make check-in and boarding for vehicles and passengers smoother and faster than before. This is particularly important in the new terminal, where two ro-ro vessels can arrive and depart simultaneously in under an hour.
Automated and integrated processes make it possible to manage simultaneous departures from a single shared waiting area. This reduces manual workload and improves overall performance even at the busiest times, when vessel turnaround time is extremely tight.
The passenger and traffic management system supports the Port of Turku’s goal of developing modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly services, and will strengthen smooth mobility across the region in the years to come.
The Port of Turku is one of Southwest Finland’s key transport hubs, and Ferry Terminal Turku will renew the passenger port for the years ahead. According to the Port of Turku, more than 2 million passengers travel through the port annually, around 80,000 trucks arrive at the port, and more than 1,500 vessels call at the port.
